Apart from being a musician, Bunty is a collector of traditional musical instruments from all over the world. He currently has over seventy instruments, and he preserves not just the instruments but their history, their lore and their playing style.
Bunty was born in Kolkata around the end of the eighties. Born into a musical family, he was quickly put into rigorous training for percussion instruments, and grew into designing and creating his own. It is safe to say that any traditional music show in Bengal today feels incomplete without Bunty performing.
Bunty has been an integral part of Fakira from its inception. His deep knowledge of the traditional percussive instruments of Bengal, and his experiments in using them innovatively, have given Fakira's sound added detail and richness — the Dubki, Hang Drum and Darbuka among many others.
