Anurag Bhattacharyya
Drummer and Percussionist
Born in a suburban town in West Bengal, Anurag Bhattacharyya developed a passion for rhythm and percussion from an early age. Raised in a musically rich environment, he has honed his craft with dedication, developing a distinctive style and musical identity.
In 2017, he formally began his training in drums and percussion under the guidance of Guru Sri Avirup Das (Bunty's Percussion). Under his mentorship, Anurag developed a strong foundation in rhythm, technique, and musical expression, transforming his childhood passion into a professional pursuit. In 2020, he made his television performance debut as a drummer on Zee Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and has since had the opportunity to perform on the show multiple times. In 2022, Anurag joined the folk-rock band FAKIRA, with whom he continues to perform extensively across various concerts, cultural events, and music festivals.
One of the significant milestones in his musical journey was performing at the Kolkata International Drums Festival, where he had the privilege of sharing the stage with legendary percussion maestro Shivamani Sir. Anurag is proficient in a wide range of percussion instruments, including Drums, Cajón, Djembe, Darbuka, Dubki, Timbales, and several other world percussion instruments. His versatility allows him to perform across diverse musical genres, blending traditional rhythms with contemporary styles while constantly exploring new sounds and musical expressions.
